2021 QTC CLUB TOURNAMENT & MATCH RULES

TOURNAMENT RULES

• Members may enter up to 3 events, however matches MUST be played by the “Play-By Dates” for each round (see Entry Form). If you enter 3 events, you must be available to play all three matches on the Finals date according to the tournament schedule.
  
  
• Tournament entry fees consist of an initial registration fee of $10 plus $10 for each event that you enter. Therefore, if you enter one event, you owe $20. If you enter two events, you owe $30. If you enter three events, you owe $40. NOTE: Each doubles partner needs to register as well and pay their own fees.
  
  
• Entry form deadline is SUNDAY, JULY 25TH 2021 – NO EXCEPTIONS!
•  Enter and pay either online or complete a paper copy available at the clubhouse. Submit paper entries with cash/check in an envelope with your name on it and drop in the Suggestion Box at the Club. Checks payable to: Quincy Tennis Club.
• Draws will be available on: FRIDAY, JULY 30TH
• Schedule your matches as early as possible to avoid conflicts and weather delays. Matches may be defaulted if not completed by the Play-by dates or player unavailability.
• Tournament matches scheduled on weeknights receive priority and court time can be reserved by notifying the Tournament Committee two days in advance.
• Notify the Tournament Committee (contacts below) of the date, time and opponent for each of your matches or if you are having trouble scheduling matches.
  MATCH RULES
• Set court clock to “12” – you have the court until the game ends.
• All players bring an unopened can of ‘Regular Duty’ or ‘Clay court’ tennis balls (NO All Court balls). One can is used for the match, the other can is given to the winner of the match.
• 10-minute warm up and best of 2 out of 3 sets.
• Please use scorecards, face towards the porch.
• Tie-breaker at 6 games all: First to 7 points, win by 2 (known as 12-point tie-breaker).
• If daylight is an issue, before the match starts, both players must agree to either play a third set or a 10-point Super tie breaker (First to 10 points, win by 2) in lieu of a 3rd set. Otherwise, play resumes at a later date at the point left off.
• Write down the match result on the draw located at the club PLUS text your results to the Tournament Committee: see contact numbers below.
• If you win your match, contact the next player you are drawn against and arrange to play by the ‘play-by dates’.
• All USTA rules apply. Refer to ‘Friend at court’ rule book to resolve issues.
